Spanish Honor Society Welcomes New Members

The Chittenango High School Guernica Chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica welcomed 18 new members in the high school auditorium on Monday, January 13, 2020. The induction ceremony was led by the officers and members Andrea Stanek, Jada Masiclat, Thomas McIntosh, Sean Larsson, Shannon Pitt, Sarah Martin, and Cassidy Kelly. Savannah Penoyer and Elizabeth Goss coordinated the refreshments. The purpose of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is to honor Chittenango students interested in both Spanish language and culture, and all the members participate in service to benefit the Spanish language and/or the Hispanic community. This year’s members continue to serve the needy at the Samaritan Center in Syracuse by preparing and serving meals in addition to distributing donated items to guests. This March members will also hold a “Pulsera” bracelet sale to benefit Central American communities. In addition, we are working with Syracuse organizations in collecting items to help families in Puerto Rico affected by the earthquake. “¡Felicidades y bienvenidos!” Congratulations and welcome to all the new members!
