Excelsior Scholarship Alert Form

SUNY Upstate Medical University (Syracuse, NY) is once again hosting a series of one day Career Awareness Days this summer for students considering a career in health care.  We ask you to please pass along information about these events to your science faculty as well as your students you feel would be a good fit and interested in these fields.  There is a small fee of $15 ($5 for free/reduced lunch students) for students to attend if admitted and lunch is included.  Space is limited to 24 students per day.  

Nursing & Respiratory Therapy: June 28th 
Medicine & Physician Assistant: June 29th 
 
Medical Technology, Medical Biotechnology & Biomedical Sciences: July 19th
 
Physical Therapy: July 27th 
 
(We won’t be offering a program this summer for Medical Imaging & Radiation Therapy as we did last year, but we’re hoping to offer a program in the fall.)

WHO is this event for?
High school students (current sophomore through seniors) and current college freshmen and sophomores.

WHERE will be held?
Syracuse, NY on the campus of SUNY Upstate Medical University.

This is not a shadowing event.  Instead, the Career Awareness Days covers 2 to 3 careers with some similar features or aspects in one day. The attendees get an overview of the profession, talk to professionals in the field, see and possibly try (depending on the event) the techniques and equipment they use. MADISON COUNTY CHILDREN'S CAMP - CAMP LOOKOUT 

Are you looking for an action-packed summer job? Be a Camp Counselor. Camp Lookout is hiring for the 2017 summer. Do you have experience working with children? Do you love the outdoors, swimming, kayaking, and hiking? Do you need to build your resume? Camp Lookout is a private, nonprofit overnight camp located in Eaton, NY. Campers enjoy a week long stay where they participate in swimming, canoeing, nature hikes, crafts, arts and mass games. Must be 17 to apply.

Or how about a Counselor in Training (CIT) volunteer. Camp Lookout is looking for 14, 15 and 16 year old volunteer counselors to assist at camp this summer. We normally have 70 CIT's from throughout the County come for one or two volunteer weeks. During your stay you will experience many of the camp activities and participate in leadership training along with self-discovery and group activities. Come pick up your application in the Counseling Office. Applications are due by May 1st. 

          

TC3 COLLEGENOW- ONLINE COLLEGE COURSES
 
Online college courses are being offered at a reduced rate for high school juniors and seniors through Tompkins Cortland Community College.
 
These courses are taught by TC3 faculty and are open to all juniors and seniors. 
 
Fees for 2016-2017 is 75.00 per credit hour

Kaplan Academy SAT Preparation Course 

Kaplan Academy for SAT Preparation offers 24 hours of scheduled verbal and math instruction taught by MPH teachers Mr. Montas and Mr. Schroth. Course Fee is $225.00 and includes students edition book with two full-length practice exams, electronic score reports and online student companion with additional practice tests, strategy videos and practice quizzes.

Classes are Sundays, March 5 - April 30  10:00 am - 1:00 pm  (No classes April 16). Registration opens November 20 at 9:00 a.m.  Register online at www.mph.net/community/programs.
