THANK YOU!

Dear Bear Country Community Residents, Friends and Neighbors:

On behalf of a grateful Board of Education, we wish to extend our deep appreciation to our Chittenango Schools community, which has exemplified resilience, trust and compassion amidst an extraordinary year.  From the selfless actions of Bear Country citizens supporting their neighbors, our collective effort to meet the challenges of operating in a pandemic environment, we have proven the unbreakable spirit of our Bear Country pride.  When faced with remarkable challenge, we responded with remarkable courage and for this we are proud of our Chittenango Schools community family!

In our effort to remain safety focused, while upholding our commitment to offering high quality academic and extra-curricular opportunities for our students, Bear Country has risen to the challenge.  The Chittenango CSD remains one of the only school districts in the greater CNY region to operate both in-person and virtual learning every available day since September 8, 2020.  Further, we are one of the only districts in the great CNY region to offer a wide variety of in-person student activities since September including, but not limited to, athletics, music, clubs and theatre.  Chittenango HS is one of the very few schools in the state to conduct in-person events such as a Fall Play, Spring Musical and Robotics Competitions at CHS.

In our drive to support neighbors, friends and local businesses, the Chittenango CSD is honored to have raised, through grant funding and generous donations, nearly $60,000 to support community residents experiencing financial hardship.  Senior citizens, residents with and without children in our schools, all were supported with gift cards for local food establishments and TOPS Friendly Markets. To the faculty, staff and community partners who donated funds to the Chittenango CSD community support system, BEAR CARE, we thank you!  To our Chittenango CSD employees, of all units and roles, we are thankful for their professionalism and dedication to be part of the solution.

The aforementioned is nothing short of remarkable and epitomizes the very meaning of being a Bear.  Operating a school system in a pandemic presents daily adversity, yet we endure each challenge because we are Bears.  The District has maintained preparedness to adjust our learning model based upon not only updated guidance but also our re-opening principles of Consistency, Choice and Safety.  Through the efforts of our faulty, staff, parents, students and local government partners we continue to adapt, adjust and endure.  The 2021-2022 school year will require us to continue our resiliency, trust and compassion, and we will yet again rise to the challenge.

As such, thank you, to our community for the passing of the 2021-2022 school budget!  We genuinely appreciate your support and value the trust you place in our District.  The Chittenango Schools community is built upon collaboration, supporting your neighbor and a commitment to the "WE" of Bear Country.  We will continue to stand together, support one another and persevere as a community!

Thank you, for your continued support!
