Nominating Petition – Board of Education
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILING
Three terms of office on the Chittenango Central School District Board of Education will expire on June 30, 2019. Successors to these offices will be elected for a three year term, effective July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022 at the annual school district election on May 21, 2019.
Board of Education vacancies are considered to be separate specific offices. This nominating petition describes a specific vacancy for which the designated candidate is being nominated.
Candidates may be nominated only by petition. Each nominating petition shall be filed with the school district clerk at the Chittenango Central School District Offices, 1732 Fyler Road, Chittenango, NY 13037 not later than 5:00 p.m. on the thirtieth (30th) day preceding the day of the election at which the candidates nominated are to be elected. Petitions must be filed on or before Monday, April 22, 2019. Each nominating petition must state the name and residence of the candidate and be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the school district. Each of the persons signing a nominating petition must also state his or her residence.
Under the law a qualified voter is one who is entitled to vote at a school district election. To be entitled to a vote a person must be:
- A citizen of the United States, and
- Eighteen years of age, or older, and
- A resident of the school district for a period of at least thirty days preceding the election at which he or she offers to vote.
