Music Theory I (0780): This course is designed for students who wish to increase their knowledge of music and its history.  Students must be enrolled in a CHS ensemble, as information learned in this course is directly beneficial to them as performers.  Various pieces of music will be discusses and students will be expected to compose original pieces.  Music theory and its design, music history and aural dictations are the key aspects of this course.  Students must have a basic music-reading ability or the willingness to learn. (1.0 unit)  

Classroom Piano:  (0785): This course is designed to give students a basic understanding of playing the piano.  Students will learn how to read and play notes of both the treble  and bass clefs, understand basic rhythms, learn key signatures, play scales and develop sight- reading skills.  Basic piano literature will be taught and memorized.  Student works will be showcased in an annual student recital.  There are no pre-requisites for this course, only the desire to learn a new instrument. (0.5 Unit)
