Chittenango High School to perform Titanic: The Musical

Chittenango High School to perform Titanic: The Musical

On April 12, 1912, the RMS Titanic, the largest moving object in the world, set sail on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. Titanic: The Musical tells the sweeping story of the ship’s passengers and crew, from the visionaries in First Class to the dreamers in Third Class, all brought to life by 100 CHS and CMS students, a live pit orchestra, stunning sets and fantastic effects.

The story opens with the architect Thomas Andrews (Derek Gay) marveling at the "Ship of Dreams." He is joined by the ambitious J. Bruce Ismay (Griffin Schmidt), Director of the White Star Line, and the experienced Captain E.J. Smith (Chris Blair). Crew members include Etches (Jamie Spindler), Officer Murdoch (Blaise Siler), Officer Lightoller (Graham LaMay), Lookout Fleet (Mearin Booher), Officer Boxhall (Samuel Buneo), Bellboy (Tristan LaSala), and Officer Hitchens (Brooke LaPoint).

As the ship heads across the sea, we meet people from all walks of life: First Class titans of industry like Isidor and Ida Straus (Bryce LaPoint, Kierstin Checksfield), Benjamin Guggenheim and Madam Aubert (Gideon Keville, Sara Schnauffer), John Jacob and Madeline Astor (Jaymes Ronalds, Isabella Lapointe),  George and Eleanor Widener (Lou Delran, Emi Greiner), the mysterious Charlotte Cardoza (Natalie Fox), The Thayer Family (Josh Moore, Ella Rogers, Lily Crayton), Bandleader Wallace Hartley (Victoria Waldron), Second Class passengers Alice and Edgar Beane (Taylor Velardi, Noah Haarman), Charles and Caroline (Kyle Morkel, Elise Chatwin) and Third Class immigrants such as the three “Kates” (Hope Rock, Molly Douglas, Sadie Jones) and the dashing Jim Farrell (Hudson Schmidt) who all hope for a new start in America.

While the passengers enjoy the opulence of the "unsinkable" ship, the crew works tirelessly below decks. Frederick Barrett (Elijah Hoover), a stoker in the boiler room, sings of his longing for home, while Harold Bride (Joey Fox) the radioman, manages the new technology of the wireless telegraph. The excitement of the voyage is underscored by the lush, live orchestrations of our pit musicians, who capture the grandeur and eventual tension of the crossing.

Adding to the talent on stage will be 2nd class passengers Kaylee Brenckman, Landyn Buckley, Olivia Dygert, Leandra Eschweiler, Irelyn Massey, Nina Piraino, and Emerson Tianello. Our 3rd class rounds out with Leah Dion, Amelia Kelley, Zoé Kurtz, Makenzie Martinez, Alana Minor, Addison Poland and Eleanor Smith.

Titanic will be performed March 19 & 20, 2026 at 7pm and March 21 at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at www.dramabears.ludus.com. Tickets are $12 and will also be available at the door.
