ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to my following students:
Jewell B
Hannah T
Mackenzie M
Krissy R
Ashley F

They have achieved the highest overall averages
in social studies so far this year, and because of that,
I have recommended them to The United States Achievement Academy.  Below is information from this
organization's web site describing its mission.
The United States Achievement Academy, located in Lexington, Ky, was founded in 1978 to recognize America's outstanding students in grades 6 through 12 and to provide scholarship opportunities for all participants.

The USAA distinguished faculty members representing all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are dedicated to the belief in recognizing excellence in America's outstanding students.
  • In 2007-2008, nominations were received from more than 30,000 junior and senior high schools in America.
  • USAA has awarded over $1,000,000 in educational cash grants.
  • More than 1 million educators from the United States and its territories have nominated students for the Academy's honor programs.
  • The average GPA of all USAA members is a 3.8 on a 4.0 scale.
Students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, marked improvement or a commitment to academic success are nominated by the educator. Students become members of the Academy through teacher nominations or through the school's honor roll. All nominations are honored by USAA with the belief that educators know their students best.
