It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the principal of Bolivar Road Elementary and return to the Chittenango community. As a district alumni, I am honored to take on this role at such a child and community centered, high achieving school. I am committed to continuing all the amazing things that are happening here at school and I am proud to be amongst the dedicated professionals at Bolivar Road.
With over 13 years of experience as a school psychologist, behavior specialist and elementary principal, I am dedicated to building relationships with students, staff, families and community members. As an educational leader, I am committed to educating the whole child. I value high quality literacy instruction, data informed teaching practices and supporting student’s social and emotional needs. I look forward to being part of the Bolivar Road team and will strive to create a safe and engaging learning environment in which all students are welcomed, nurtured and given all opportunities to succeed.
I am proud to share my four educational values with you. I am truly passionate in these four beliefs and I will employ these in all that I do each day with your children and the staff at Bolivar Road.
Equity: All children are capable of learning and able to achieve high levels of academic success.
Excellence: The school, and the adults comprised, control the factors necessary to ensure student mastery of the content.
Example: The adults within the school will model the learning behavior expected from the students. Educators are self-reflective, vulnerable, and show a passion to grow personally and professionally.
Empathy: All staff members are capable of creating caring connections that empower students. We must choose to be compassionate. A relationship with one child can change a child’s path.
Quality home and school communication is a top priority. Your child’s education is a partnership between home and school, and you can expect regular communication from me and the teaching staff. I value feedback and I am eager to get to know you all and form trusting relationships to best support your children and Bolivar Road.
Sincerely,
Kara M. May
